毎月最終水曜の夜は、月例の組手会の開催日

組手のレベルアップを目指す道場生が参加していますが、
ここに来たから強くなれるかと言えばそうではありません。
やはり強くなっていく子は、相手を選ばず
誰に対しても全力で臨んでいます。

特に、上級者に対して喰らいついていく気概。
昨日も、技を決められ、痛さと悔しさで涙を流しながらも
歯を食いしばって向かってくる子がいましたが、
こういう子は必ず強くなりますね。

一番大事なのは、このハートの強さ。
そして、その強さは自分の力で掴みとっていくもの。
痛み、恐怖に立ち向かい、乗り越える強き心を
この組手会を通じて、しっかりと鍛えていきます!!

【October Kumite Workshop】

Every last Wednesday of the month is our Kumite workshop.
This workshop is for students who wish to improve
their kumite, however, it doesn’t guarantee their growth.
In my experience, the students who excel are those
who give all their strength, regardless of who their opponent is.
Even against advanced opponents, these students are aggressive.
Yesterday, there was a student who was shedding
tears from pain and adversity because his opponent took the point,
but this student was still pushing hard.
I know he will become a strong fighter as the most
important thing is a strong spirit like his.
He faced the pain, the challenge, and the fear,
and crossed one boundary to step up his game.
We will train the students hard and through
this workshop!!

先日、当道場最高齢58才での昇段を果たしたシライさん
初めて黒帯を締めての稽古姿は凛々しいですね。

この日もバリバリ元気に動いていました。
正に”鉄人”です!!

The other day Mr.Shirai, the most senior at our Dojo,
passed the black belt test and showed up
to practice with his new belt looking quite valiant!
His movements were energetic as always.
He is truly an ironman!

７年前、51才で当道場の門を叩いたシライさんが
黒帯の昇段審査にチャレンジ。

試練の１０人組手では、
相手をした茶帯・黒帯の激しい攻撃に
身体はふらつき、手足は鉛のように重く、
思うように動けなくとも、気持ちは前に、前に!
最後までやり抜き、当道場最高齢58才での黒帯となりました。

始めるのに遅いなんてない、
そして、いくつになっても、あきらめなければ
黒帯になることは可能である。
それらを背中で語ってくれたシライさんの姿は
後に続くオヤジ軍団、そして若者たちの目にも、
熱く焼きついたことと思います。

これからの一般部も、ますます熱くなりそうですね。
シライさん、おめでとうございます!!

【A 58 year old’s challenge up against the black belt】

7 years ago, Mr.Shirai knocked on or Dojo doors
and began his Karate journey.
Today he took on the black belt advancement test.
His opponents were brown belt and black belt holders.
Their attacks were so aggressive that he felt
his body weakly sway and become heavy
as if he had chains around himself,
but it did not put out his spirit!
He pushed through and successfully
attained the black belt!
Mr. Shirai is proof that it’s never too late
to start and if you never give up,
the black belt is achievable.
The other old men crew and young students saw
with their eyes this day and it is sure
to add more excitement to the General Group.
Congratulations Mr.Shirai!

昨日は京都で行われた
「第１２回若龍杯オープン空手道選手権大会」に
３名の拳士が出場

ハイレベルなフルコンタクトルールの試合では

①相手に効かせられる打撃力
②最後まで動きつづけられる体力
③打ち合いに怯むことのない精神力

この３つのポイントのいずれか(又は全て)を
出場した選手たちは、それぞれこれからの稽古の
課題として取り組み、さらなる高みを目指して行きましょう。

Yesterday the “12th Jakuryu Cup Open Karate Championships”
was held in Kyoto and we had 3 participants from our Dojo.
An advanced full contact rules consist of:
1. An effective attack towards the opponent.
2. A lasting physical endurance until the end of the match.
3. An emotional endurance engaging in the match.
If our students had lacked any of the above rules,
I believe it is necessary to master them
in practices to achieve them.

聖武会館主催の近畿空手道選手権大会に
今、燃えに燃えているオヤジ軍団４名が出場

こうした初中級の大会は、技術的には粗削りながらも
「勝ちたいんや!!」という気持ちのぶつかり合いが
見ていてこちらも熱くなってくるものがありますね。

今回は全員がデビュー戦、ここからがスタートです。
喜びも悔しさも糧にして、また頑張っていきましょう!!

【Kinki Region Karate Championships】

We had 4 of the currently fiercest members
from our men’s crew participating in the
Kinki Region Karate Championships hosted by Seibu kaikan.
Because this is beginner to intermediate level,
the techniques are not as precise, however,
the eagerness to win can be felt from all the fighters
and we could not sit still watching!
All of our participants actually made
their tournament debut this day.
In this sense, it is a beginning of their journey.
Regardless of results, from the joy and sorrows of the day,
let us learn and keep moving forward!
I would also like to thank the host, Seibu kaikan,
and their staff, as well as the members of the Men’s crew
who came to show support their comrades!!

9/26(火)一般部稽古
ミットはコンビネーションの打ち込み。
対人練習では、通常の組手よりも
もう一歩近い間合いでのテクニックを練習しました。

日曜日の試合では、この距離で闘うことも
多くなりそうなので、自分の距離以外での動きも
シュミレーションしておきましょう

【Getting Closer】

9/26 (Tues.) General Group Practice
For mitt rounds we focused on combination offenses.
During one on one, they shrank their distance between each other,
about a step closer than the usual Kumite,
and worked on their techniques.
In anticipation that they may have to fight
with more proximity to their opponent at Sunday’s tournament,
they practiced fighting outside their familiar distances.
