Last night, Joe Sensei, Coach Yuki and I,
we had our usual meeting at Mahaku,
an Indian restaurant.
We talked about the Dojo’s goals for next year,
and they shared their dreams very passionately.
How can they achieve them? We discussed
possible ways to achieve them.
The two are still young, they have so much
possibility ahead of them.
Dream big and aim high.
As tough guys, I hope they can make the most out of anything!
In the Youth Group, we ask and delegate
a student to lead the greeting
and chant before practice.
Who will be brave enough to raise their hand
and take on the responsibilities? When
they take this on over and over again,
it strengthens their will.
*Youth Group Dojo Chant
I will refine my techniques in class and build a strong body and will.
I will take on challenges with a courageous heart and persistent attitude.
I will speak good words and act benevolently.
I will remember to be thankful and will be good to family and friends.
I will become one with nature, the heavens and earth, through the practice of karate.
These days the kids and Youth Group
students were getting a little sloppy
with placing equipments,
so I explained to them the importance
of taking care of things we use.
To handle things with care also means
to be mindful of ourselves and the way
we carry ourselves. When we do this,
we can focus on things much better
because we are being mindful.
Lastly, if our heart is in the right place
then our fists are also in the right place!!
