Yesterday was our monthly Kumite Assembly.
For those aiming to advance high,
this place will not let you cut slack.
If they show a loose Kumite or lack
in spirit then the whole Dojo is ringing
with the instructors’ voices encouraging them,
sometimes even with anger.
The juniors need to be more aggressive against their seniors,
and the seniors need to be more firm in their guidance.
It is tough, but through practice,
we hope to continue progressing
with an affirmative mind and heart!
9/26 (Tues.) General Group Practice
For mitt rounds we focused on combination offenses.
During one on one, they shrank their distance between each other,
about a step closer than the usual Kumite,
and worked on their techniques.
In anticipation that they may have to fight
with more proximity to their opponent at Sunday’s tournament,
they practiced fighting outside their familiar distances.
Tomorrow from 7pm is Tenshi Dojo’s monthly Kumite Assembly.
Currently we are in the middle of tournament
season so the players are all energized and aggressive.
It looks like we will have another eventful month!
＊ September Kumite Assembly PM7:00~8:00
Location: Main Dojo
For Youth Group and General
Group levels only
I visited “Active Learning Studio” at Senri Chuo
to pay a visit to Konishi-san who runs the studio.
We became acquainted last year when
I was asked to do a lecture on how to
increase one’s performance levels.
They also kindly let us put out
Tenshi Dojo’s brochures here.
Thank you Konishi san and looking forward to continue building our relationship!
Sunday morning classes at Takakawa Dojo
are beginner and intermediate level classes.
The kids in this class have really
increased their strength.
From fall towards the end of the year,
there will be T-1 league and advancement tests so
it’s important right now to learn the basics,
learn how to tune in and also learn how to
greet people with a loud, clear voice.
This puts our spirit in the right place.
Let us move forward with this spirit and ambitions!
For those who wish to sign up for extra lessons
we also have personal training classes
led by Shihan or one of the coaches.
Through one to one lessons, we are able to
focus on specific aspects requested by the student,
from mastering a particular technique
or to reach a certain goal.
Yesterday a high school senior took a personal training class
with Sora Sensei to work on her kick techniques
and to increase her speed.
We are looking forward to the seeing
the fruits of her effort in an upcoming tournament!
Naito Sensei participated in the National Tournament
held by Maki Dojo in Aichi prefecture.
It was an advanced level tournament
with all the young elites gathered from all over the country.
Nevertheless, Naito Sensei placed 3rd!
He was able to exert everything
he learned and practiced over the summer.
This was also inspiring news for the men’s crew
anticipating a tournament next week!
Congratulations Naito Sensei!!
And thank you to those who came out to show support,
the General Group members, and Maki Dojo.
