A Karate Dojo that shows “the way” (“do” in Japanese)

Sado (tea ceremony), kado (flower arrangement),
shodo (calligraphy), budo (martial arts)…
all these genre have the word “do” affixed at the end,
emblematic of the Japanese spiritual culture through
which people nurture themselves.

I looked up “do” and came across “wakeiseijaku”,
which is the spirit of Japanese tea ceremony.

“Wa” means to get along with each other.
“Kei” means to respect each other
“Sei” means to carry a pure heart inside.
“Jaku” means to be firm at all times.

This is also relevant in karate. “Do”
is a measure of morale and a way of being.
It is something not taught in school these days,
and I hope to teach and nurture kids this way through karate,
to help our children grow into strong individuals.
