In order to avoid the opponent’s attack,
we practiced how to quickly set up an attack from
a momentary back step or a defensive move.
It is not the same as fully receiving the opponent’s attack.
When an attack is dodged or avoided,
one can lose their balance and there’s a time loss
while setting oneself up again. This practice is about
knowing that moment when the opponent’s attack comes
and quickly switching to your offense.
With Kumite, it is not always the case where one can thrust
a technique in a balanced position.
We are practicing to perform techniques accurately
and effectively in an unbalanced position.
Shown in the video are 2 girls who will be participating
in a tournament at the end of March.
They are working hard at it!
